History

The PWCP started out as a project between NCN and Governance from Below. They are the group of people who put their heads together and came up with the idea of having a children's parliament, which allows children to have a voice, and to be heard by giving them the platform to do so on a global scale.

Neighbourhood Community Network (NCN)

NCN, also known as Governance from Below (GBF) is a charitable non-profit organization whose mission is empowering everyone of all ages and abilities by supporting them in organizing, beginning with their neighbourhood. GBF is on consultive status with ECOSOC, and encourages many projects regarding neighborhood parliaments/spaces all over the globe, one of its greatest focuses is supporting the Provisional World Children's Parliament (PWCP).

GFB aligns with activity involving adult and/or children's parliaments throughout the world:

  • Africa: Benin, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Chad, Ghana, Kenya,  Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, Togo, Zimbabwe.

  • Asia: India, Philippines, Timor Leste

  • Europe: Austria, United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain

  • North America: Canada, United States

  • South America: Chile, Colombia, Peru
