The World Children's Parliament will shortly submit an application for children's organizations that are governance-oriented to participate in a virtual side event of the UN Summit of the Future scheduled for mid September. We are calling the side event: "Summit Of The Children." The aim of the Summit is for children, supported in mutual leadership with adult allies, is to make recommendations for the future and formally decide to submit them for inclusion in the upcoming UN document called: Declaration on Future Generations. The mission is to implement, on the global stage, the rights of children to express their views expressed in articles 1, 12, 13, and 15 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The overall vision is children providing mutual leadership with adults at all levels of government.

 

We are asking you to help us collect children's recommendations. Here is the link to a document we've prepared to help the children prepare their ideas and make their recommendations. We need to receive the recommendations no later than 10 September 2024.  The consolidated recommendations will be circulated to all the participating organizations for your endorsement. On 16 September 2024, the endorsed recommendations will be presented to the Civil Societies and/or UN agencies to carry forward our recommendations to the Summit of the Future.  

 

The parallel event - Consultation of the Summit of the Children, will be held in conjunction with the Summit of the Future on 20 September 2024.
